The Boathouse There are few places where the Lake District feels as close as it does here. Built in 1936 to a design by an award-winning international architect and carefully restored, the Boathouse sits right on the shoreline: original slate floors, a log burner and central heating, and the water at the heart of every stay. Beyond the glass, Windermere stretches towards the fells, its mood shifting with every change of light and season.

THE EXPERIENCE
A welcome from Simon Rogan A hamper of food from Simon Rogan of L'Enclume, Cartmel, waiting for you on arrival. Self-cater at the water's edge, or have dishes delivered by Home by Simon Rogan.
Fireside evenings Slate floors, a multi-fuel log burner and central heating throughout make the Boathouse as inviting in January as it is in June.
By the water Morning coffee on the slate terrace, an outdoor shower with nothing but the lake in front of you, and still water off the private jetty. If you're lucky, you'll spot otters fishing or cormorants diving.
